Exciting times are ahead for owners of Tupelo Bay Golf Villas. The amenities center is abuzz with homeowners and their guests who are taking advantage of the beautiful facilities such as the indoor heated pool, the exercise room, and the outside tables and chairs for playing cards and relaxing in the sun. The outdoor pool has been opened for a while. Outdoor kitchens are under construction which will give residents and guests a place to cook out. Grills will still be placed between condo buildings in the future.  On cooler days in the winter months and early spring, we saw more use of the inside of the clubhouse where comfortable couches and chairs make this gathering place ideal for folks who want to watch television, chat, read, or just relax. Many bring their laptops to use since wireless internet is available.

May weather has been lovely. Today's high is to be 78 degrees with bountiful sunshine and blue skys; shorts and short sleeves are in order.  Yes, you need a sweater or windbreaker in the morning of the late fall, winter and early spring. Golfers enjoy playing Tupelo Bay morning, noon, or night (since we have lighted play) ! .

The Grand Strand area is enjoying unprecedented growth as more and more folks 'discover' us. When I used to do real estate seminars in Long Island back in the late eighties, I can still remember those people who asked me the following question:

"Where in Florida is Myrtle Beach?" Thankfully, most folks know exactly where we are now.... The former Air Force Base is being developed as a place to live and walk to restaurants, shops, and entertainment. Some of the businesses opening soon include the Banana Republic, Coldwater Creek, Aveda Modem Salon and Day Spa, Chico's, and Barnes and Nobles. One of the many restaurants is P.F. Chang's Chinese Bistro and the Piggly Wiggly supermarket will be coming as well. 'Just a few miles north of Tupelo Bay, we can all enjoy the facilities and businesses coming our way!

The Hard Rock Theme Park is now open!  Shows, rides, and huge roller coasters inspired by musicians and their music will be available. Check out www.hardrockpark.com for more information. Since the demise of the Pavilion, many of us who went there as children and who then took our own children and grandchildren have longed for a place to go when the younger crowd comes to visit.

Fluctuations in the real estate market affect everyone, but thankfully, our area offers such a variety of offerings that we anticipate a quicker 'recovery' than some parts of the country. The pendulum always swings. That's why it's called the real estate 'market'.  Our second winter rental season is terrific and we even have a waiting list of renters.
